Relationships

Key to the success of this development was the tripartite agreement and approach with Wintec and Hamilton City Council. We delivered on all parties’ objectives including a public activation outcome through the creation of the public space that complemented the built form.

Approach

The combination of a very tight site, a high profile tenant and complex public space provision presented an intense risk matrix, requiring an acute development approach to successfully navigate. The project was completed on time and below budget.

Outcome

Hamilton CBD has been enhanced by elegant building and urban park, boasting a prime tenant and providing a sophisticated entrance to Wintec’s Campus.

PWC Centre

Five-storey, 5300sqm office building with retail, entertainment and dining amenity.

Location: CBD, Hamilton

Completion: 2013

Previously known as 'Citygate', the PWC Centre transformed a site that had been vacant for 17 years. It is now an important part of the revitalisation of Hamilton’s city centre, serving as a gateway to the heart of the city.

The five-storey, 5300sqm building serves many purposes. The ground floor retail outlets face out to the central plaza area — a flexible multi-use space that provides for corporate and private events, entertainment, dining and people-watching. The high-quality, 4+ Green Star-rated office building accommodates around 300 professionals and has a large public open area to enjoy.

In 2013, we received the Urban Design Architectural Merit category award at the Property Council's ‘We Are Waikato’ awards for the PWC Centre.

The development also received praise for its sustainability and urban design including design integration of the new public plaza with the adjacent tertiary campus. PWC was the first Green Star-rated building developed in Hamilton.
